GENERAL
AVAILABLE OBJECTS
- Is the object/baddy/goody/puzzle/animated object/trap "X" available?
Look at page 82 of the level editor tutorial/manual, which shows an overview of all objects/baddies/goodies/puzzles/animated objects/traps for the different WADs you can choose from.
- Can I make my own objects with a 3D program and use them in the game?
No, you cannot. You can only use the objects contained in the WAD you choose for your level.
EDITOR BUGS
- When all the empty rooms in the editor are used in a level, clicking 'select room' will cause the editor to crash so keep a spare empty room. (Source: Pytr)
EDITOR
- How can I create pushable objects/blocks?
You cannot create pushable objects. You have to use a WAD that contains a pushable object like tut1.WAD or catacomb.WAD.
- How can I use switches to open doors?
Click on the switch, then on the floor square where the switch is located, click on the small text box next to the pink box to set up a trigger and use "SWITCH" as trigger type. Click OK.
Then click on the pink box to set the square as a square triggering all other triggers that are put onto that square.
Now simply select (i.e. click on) the door you want to open, click onto the pink square where the switch is and click on the pink box again.
- How can I remove a monkey swing/death/box/climb field?
This is a toggle button. Simply select the squares which have the attribute monkey swing (or death/box/climb) and then click on the monkey swing button again to make it disappear.
- How can I stack poles?
Select the first pole, click on PLACE OBJECT, then on the square where you want it to appear. Use Floor +/- if required.
Then click on PLACE OBJECT again, click on the same square and click on +/- to move the new pole vertically.
- I cannot see the sidebar!
Please make sure that you are at least in 1024x768 mode.
- How can I delete textures already applied to a surface?
You cannot.
- The flame is not in the correct position
If you use FLAME_EMITTER2 in combination with a torch the bigger side of the FLAME_EMITTER2 mesh must point to the wall, otherwise the flame wonLt appear
ON the torch. Rotate the mesh (right-click onto the object) until it is in the correct position.
- How can I set an object as a secret?
You cannot set an object as a secret, only a square. So simply click on the floor square you want to "be" the secret, click on the small text box next to the pink box, select SECRET as trigger and click OK.
- How many textures are allowed in a texture file?
From the tutorial, p. 75: "There is a limit to the amount of ?texture memory? per level?can?t give
exact numbers, but economy of use should always be at the forefront!
If you reach this memory limit, when you try to apply a new texture or a
portion of a texture that hasn?t been previously applied, you will not get
the texture you want! And if you run short on ?texture memory? new
animation ranges will not activate."
- How can I modify the object tint?
First make sure that LIGHTING is activated, then click on the object you want to change and use the buttons "object tint" to change the color and lighting of the selected object.
- Why doesnLt "Trigger->Object" work correctly?
The 'Trigger->Object' feature works only if you select the trigger from the plan view and not from the editor window. However 'Object->trigger'works both ways. (Source: ImmortalX)
- The shotgun does not show up correctly
This is a known bug. More information can be found here.
SCRIPT MAKER: BUGS
- After using the script maker and starting your game it crashes immediately
There are some bugs in the batch files in the script directory.
After using one of these script files simply copy all *.dat files into the main directory "trle"
WADs: GENERAL
- How can I make my own WAD?
You cannot make your own WAD, because the WADs contain compressed information about the level, the object and sound data.
At the moment you can only use the six available WADs tut1, settomb, karnak, coastal, catacomb, cleopal and city.
WADs: KNOWN BUGS
- Game crashes on level load/quit to main menu
If the camera coordinates in the script.dat point to a non-existing location in your level the game will crash if you try to
load a saved game or want to go back to the main menu.
This can be fixed by either positioning a room where the camera is pointing to or by changing the camera position in the file
script.dat to some position that exists.
Press F1 while in the game (only works if flycheat is enabled) and write down all coordinates.
If you change the coordinates in the script.txt file for your level and generate a new script.dat the crashes will vanish.
- tut1.wad
No known bugs
- settomb.wad
Not confirmed. When Lara gets into a water room she will not stop moving. If you try to get out of the water you will stand on the water surface. (Trocinth)
Confirmed Monkey swing does not work.
Confirmed No animation for a wall to wall climb (Source: Ocacious)
- karnak.wad
Confirmed. Climbable walls do not currently work. EIDOS is working on a revised version.
- coastal.wad
Confirmed Monkey swing is not usable as confirmed here.
- catacomb.wad
Confirmed. The end-level trigger does not work as it should.
- cleopal.wad
Not confirmed When using the rope there is a wrong animation: Lara can grab the rope but you see a climbing animation. (ImmortalX)
- city.wad
Confirmed Climbable walls and monkey swing do not currently work. SAS-MIP does not move, even if itLs triggered.
Not confirmed Rope doesn't work (no Lara animation), Lara can't pick up objects under water (no Lara animation) (Source: Pytr)
Not confirmed The animation for wadeing in waist deep (2 click) water is missing. (Source: Dox)
Confirmed It is not possible to jump to another level on level completion if the level being jumped to does not use city.wad, too. (Source: Pytr)
Not confirmed When the 'mine' is placed in the level, you cannot use the crowbar to open a door and vice versa.
Either the mine will not show up and Lara will die when she gets too near to it or the game will crash after opening the door with the crowbar.
